Great weather, great day

Madrona at it’s best, if you ask me. The sun was out, we saw lots of friends and the kids had a great time. Next year I want to make it for the parade.

Great talk from a great dresser

I love Simon Schama! He’s one of my heroes simply for the deft style he brings to the profession of intellectual historian. He was in fine form Friday night to a fairly packed house – but oh, what a painful crowd is earnest, humorless, liberal Seattle. The Seattlest gets into the blow by blows in their write-up of the event.

A tip I have about Madrona

Don’t miss Mayfair! This Saturday!

One of the sweetest days in the Madrona neighborhood is the annual Mayfair celebration. If you have kids in Seattle it is worth checking out.

Madrona puts on a fine kid’s parade down the mainstreet and the playfield is transformed into a carnival grounds. There are pony rides on the tennis courts, a big bouncy contraption, and loads of other family friendly entertainments.

Between Mt. Baker’s Day in the Park and Madrona’s Mayfair, it is not hard to see why South Seattle neighborhoods rule for kids!

A story about evhead

It was a blast to meet Ev when he was in town for a social software symposium. What Blogger accomplished was such a huge inspiration! Hopefully, Ev will be back in Seattle and have time to hang out with the robots some time.

Columbia City has been booming the last few years with new businesses, eateries, pubs, pizza and movie theaters. It is almost too good to be true. We’ll have to wait and see how the new live work spaces change the area, but I’ve been amazed to see Columbia City develop a nightlife of sorts, as well as some stalwart new businesses that make it a regular draw.

The farmer’s market is open every Wednesday afternoon, so if you’ve never explored this South End neighborhood, consider a visit to the market and a stroll through the district. I bet you dig it.
