Every other week?

I’ve written a bit about the original junto over on the mutual improvement blog, but I’ve had a goal for some time to start my own junto group.

I’m the kind of guy who would love to run the “junto” weekly, but I’m thinking it might be best to start out every other week. I’m thinking of checking out a biznik meeting to see how that operates and see if there are any lessons to draw from it.

Ideally, I’d love the junto to run as a philosophical society, and a mutual improvement group. Personally, I like the idea of each member preparing a short talk as well.

I wonder if I’ll get anyone else to join.

An inkling

I’ve had this goal on my list since before we publicly released 43 Things, and while I’ve made no progress on it, it is still a really important goal to me. I’ve resisted the easy thing – which would be to delete it – since I have no real plan for ever making good on it. But last night, I had the first inkling of how I might set to work on this one. And it involves accomplishing another one of my goals too. Plus a family legacy.

Sometimes things just need to germinate for a few years.

We are expecting a new baby at the end of April or early May. It ought to be exciting!

Summer drought

After getting off the bike most of the summer, I rode in yesterday. Still not loving it.

I’ve been mixing walking, riding and taking the bus this week (no car so far this week). The walking makes me appreciate the bike. I think I just need to accept that the hills are hard and the ride is boring and quit expecting anything better.
